The best bread basket and one of the more popular brunch spots in the city is Balthazar down in Soho. There's always a crowd outside of people waiting to get in and trust me, there's always a wait. If you're going to go, give the reservation line a call early in the week or take advantage of a holiday weekend (Martin Luther King Jr.) when the city is so dead.

You have to order the bread basket - I can't think of anything better. Balthazar is also one of those old celeb sighting spots. Probably not as much now but you may seen someone like Toni Collette who frequents Balthazar.
