Another cohort of mine just raved about her jazz experience at the American Museum of Natural History. Every first friday of the month is Starry Nights at the AMNH, and she said the music was fantastic. Probably great for group dates as well. They also serve Tapas (see below), Sangria and other adult beverages. She said listen to the Jazz and have a few bites - afterwards you can eat somewhere else for a full meal. I don't normally head up to the Upper West Side for eats but apparently there are a few places worth taking the A/C or 1/9. Haven't found a great dinner spot up there so if you know of one, send me an email.
